The deepfake crisis will likely follow a similar pattern. We’ll develop better detection, platforms will implement stronger verification, and users will become more sophisticated about authentication. But the transition will be painful, and not everyone will adapt at the same pace.
For those of us helping professionals stand out on LinkedIn, this represents a fundamental shift. It’s no longer enough to craft compelling narratives and optimize profiles. We now need to help establish and maintain verifiable authenticity where seeing is no longer believing.

Your imperfections are your authentication. Your growth is your proof of humanity. Your willingness to be wrong and learn publicly is something AI can mimic but not meaningfully fake over extended periods.
The professionals who will thrive aren’t those who best perform authenticity for verification systems. They’re those who have spent years building genuine expertise, real relationships, and documented growth that creates a web of credibility too complex for even sophisticated AI to replicate.
